Combating Gender-Based Violence – GBV
Combating Gender-Based Violence – GBV
YWEN, with invaluable support from UNFPA Namibia, recently held an impactful gender-based violence (GBV) training session in Ekoka Village, Okongo, within the Ohangwena Region. The training gathered a group of passionate young people, each eager to drive positive change in their communities.
Through powerful, interactive sessions, participants delved into the harmful connections between GBV, cultural norms, and heightened HIV risks, understanding the complex ways that cultural norms expose young people, especially women, to GBV. They also had the opportunity to explore and understand the legal frameworks in place, empowering them with knowledge on their rights and the avenues available for seeking justice.
As we approach the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, YWEN will continue its efforts to raise awareness and amplify young voices in the fight to end GBV. Together, YWEN and its partners are committed to shaping a healthier, more equitable society, where young people can thrive without fear of violence or discrimination.
